Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior representative commented the attack rendered him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
