The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Popular RPG Show Track

This latest animated series, the newest animated series by Critical Role, revealed an exciting opening credits. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, misfits, and criminals fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several agonizing personal histories for key figures such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.

All in all, the intro appears stunning. However, I felt that something was missing in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar song composed by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second one released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The series' intro fails to capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the show's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the tune for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my phone. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's an impressive piece of music, but from what I know of this party, I feel that its mood is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, the creators has already said that the animated show will have some surprises and differences from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening appears as one of them.

This animated adventure will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. For those eager until then, or want a head start to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are available on Spotify and YouTube.
