The Details Known Regarding the Victims of the Bondi Terrorist Incident
At least 16 individuals were killed and more than 40 sustained injuries when gunmen shot at a Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach, an attack local police are describing as a terrorist attack.
As of the newest reports, authorities have confirmed the death toll remains at 16, including one of the suspected attackers. Furthermore, 42 injured people were admitted to the hospital.
The victims are yet to be officially identified, but authorities state their ages span from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Reportedly a father-of-five, he served as the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and acquaintances described him as “vivacious, energetic, full of life and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help people”.
“How can a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a relative asked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the birth of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She told the moments before the shooting, explaining they had been standing together when the shooting started. “He pushed his body up because he wanted to stay near me,” she said.
The pair were both survivors of the Holocaust, having faced unspeakable terror in their youth. They had later moved to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French foreign ministry have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Officially, a senior official declared that France stood with his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This low act is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the statement continued.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was taken to the a children's hospital succumbed to her injuries, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
One victim from Israel was among those killed during the attack, according to reports citing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
From the 42 people transported to hospital, many remain under care, with a number in critical condition. The injured comprise two police officers who responded to the attack.
A wounded man is a bystander who rushed to the scene to confront one of the attackers. Hailed as a hero, he received gunshot wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a community leader. Sources state he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he described the incident as an “horrific scene,” but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He stated he felt it was a “stroke of luck” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was also injured in the shooting. He described he heard “a large number” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was something less lethal, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he explained. “I was hit. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
