New Details Surface Concerning the Location of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged concerning the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their residence property on Sunday.
A Initial Report
According to a report citing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.
After gaining access to the home, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had gone with her then dialed 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
The police have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently in custody without bail.
Correcting the Record
The confidential informant also disputed several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
Furthermore refuted published notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "concerned" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation includes reports of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they maintained that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
