Former Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with performing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
